Woof
Woof

I was riding home one day when I saw a stray dog I’d never seen before. She was cute, with kind eyes, a sensitive little doggo. I liked her immediately. But as soon as I rode past, she looked at me and ran away.

Over the next few weeks, I kept seeing her. But she never stuck around for long. It was obvious she hadn’t been treated well. I decided to buy some dog food and wait until I saw her again.

She always seemed to turn up in a particular patch off the road, on the way toward my place. One day I found her there, stopped my scooter, and gently threw some food on the ground. Even that was too much, she ran away.

I felt sad. But I kept trying.

I never knew when I’d see her again or if I would at all. But one day I found her again, got off the scooter, and quietly placed some food on the ground. She kept her distance. She didn’t come close. So I got back on the scooter and left. As I rode off, I looked back and saw her slowly walking over and eating the food.

That made me happy.

We started building a slow friendship. I kept feeding her, and she started coming closer.

Now when I see her, I wave and say, “There you are!” and she runs over for pats and food. Sometimes when I go to leave, she starts chasing the scooter, not wanting me to go.

These days, I always make sure I’ve got some dog food in my bag, just in case I see her.

I want to adopt her. But I can’t. I’m going to Greece for three months. What will happen when

I leave in a month? Will I ever see her again?

It will be out of my hands soon.

It’s in God’s.
